Pony camp!
I came back from pony camp yesterday, I'm Shattered. On the first day, we went on a 2 hour picnic ride. I was on a lazy horse called Harry, who ended up eating more of my dinner than me! XD bless :') I slept in a tent with my friend and also this weird girl, who nobody likes. She ran to her mummy, crying, because I yelled at her when I was trying to sleep when she was slapping me with a toy lizard...names Larry :L
When I finally got to sleep, we were rudely awoken by screaming as there was a thunder storm (not that it bothered me, I just carried on sleeping!) Until the tent collapsed in on us!!! Seeing as we were up and about we ran to the fields to put rugs on the horses, which were going insane! What a great start to the morning!
After the storm had died down, we started preparing the horses for the show day. We had cleaned all the tack the previous night before, in pitch darkness, so most of it was put back together incorrectly. I managed to do a successful tail plait and main plait, which looked pretty... Shame I couldn't plait my own hair! XD
I did clear round on a horse called Charlie. He's the sweetest thing ever, he's just very timid because he was abuse d at his last home so, obviously, he's...nervous. Which means he has a horrid jump. He got scared and refused everyone but I got him over it in the end, bless :')
Whilst I was jumping Charlie, my friend, Beth, had borrowed my showing jacket and tie for her class. Mine was about to start. She was on the same horse as me too. So that had to be delayed.
For showing I rode Saxon. He's a 'green' pony, which means he's a baby and still learning so he can be a bit dodgy. But he was amazing! Showing basically means showing off what your horse can do. It's a lot harder than it sounds. But, Saxon stood square, cantered on the correct leg and I got my diagonal so that was great! We were given a set course by the judge which co fused us all but everybody managed to pull it off. Josh and Topaz won (no surprise there) and I came joint second with my friend who was also on a 'green, pony! How cyoote? :3
After tea, we did puissance! This is where there is a wall of bricks and you build it higher and higher til the horse can jump no more. I was on Jim for this, so I was confident and felt safe...although he was a bit giddy with a few bucks here and there XD Josh (one of the only male riders at the camp) was on a VERY difficult horse called Diesel. The horse was fine jumping the fence but when it was waiting for it's turn, it went CRAZY!!! 5 people had to hold on to the horse at once and then when it reared, it knocked them all down. Josh was amazing with that horse! Little Louise won on her pony Jake, but not before she fell off and demolished the entire wall! I was so proud of Jimbo :') He's the best pony ever!
Everybody changed into their PJs and we had a game of take down! I was shy at first but then I was leaping everywhere and being pounced on by everybody! Such fun XD A big fight broke put between some boys and 3 of us had to restrain one kid! He was only 10, yet he managed to destroy someone's face with one punch! I was just sat on this kid's leg...like ya doooo! :p Me and Beth couldn't sleep (she was excited because it was her birthday tomorrow) and we heard the boys were awake next door...so we went and chilled with them in their 1 man tent. Yes, we can also share 3 cans of energy drink between the 5 of us! Then, we thought we saw a gypsy. They had tried to steal the horses the year before hand too. So, we all grabbed a weapon and went chasing them...turns out it was just a shadow and nothing was there for miles round! Bare in mind it was about 2:00 in the morning.
The next day was long. I hadn't had much sleep because of the night before hand so I nearly died. However, I was excited because today was the cross country day! I was also on Jim for this event so I knew I wouldn't fall off...unless I did something wrong (not the horses fault). We warmed up on the logs, then a handful of us jumped the tires and the ditch! We moved into the next field, practiced the double planks, the step up, and the downward logs...believe me, it's not nice jumping down hill!
We then had a competition: who could get round the cross country course the quickest! I came third, and, as per usual, Josh and Topaz came first. Not that I was that bothered; I was so proud of my pony anyways! We bombed it downhill and I almost fell off! Such fun! XD
At night, a rumour was spread that Josh (did I mention he was my ex?) And this girl, Leanne (who's well older than us- she's horrible!) Were snogging behind the tents! Joshua already has a girlfriend. He finished me, to get with her. There was a big debate about whether it was true or not...I love gossip! The person who owns the riding school found out too, and just sat there taking the mic out of them and making feel awkward...it was funny!
That night, me and Louise (the one who crashed into the wall) couldn't sleep so went to the boys tent to do an all-nighter. It didn't work very well. We all just feel asleep after going on a wild gypsy chase...not that anybody was there. It was so cosy though! We were all quite packed in so it was so warm and they had a lantern, which cast a dull light, which was pretty :3
On the last day, we did a 6 hour ride home! From Todmorden back too Shaw. It was amazing! Again, I was on Jim (he's my favourite pony) and he was great. We stayed at the back of the ride because I had to get off and shut all the gates, them get back on and also, we had to direct the traffic. We nearly got run over a fee times! X) When it was time to gallop up the 'back hill' I went in the big girls/fast group. We just bombed it up Tue hill and scared the poop out of the cows on the way up. We thought it was a sort of race.
When we finally made it home, everybody wanted a drink/something to eat so me and Josh volunteered to go to the shops and get stuff. We had never rode out by ourselves before...by that I mean, there had always been someone (on foot or on horse) to take control and be responsible but we had to be this time! Surprisingly, we were! I was buzzing about it.
Pony camp was so so good, can't wait till next year!
